i had a metal on metal hip replacement in march 2003 resulting in severe pain and discomfort until the prosthesis was revised in february 2008.i had complained for 4 years but the surgeon refused to see me until a radiographer discovered i had a metal allergy caused by the original replacement.the surgeon was anxious to get me into broadgreen hospital to replace it with a ceramic head.i have accessed my medical records and requested a lot number for the original prosthesis but mysteriously it seems to have disappeared.i still suffer pain and reported this to the consultant but it appears that the only option for me is to continue with pain killers.

Bribery Act 2010 implementation delayed

It has been reported that the implementation of the Bribery Act 2010 will be delayed. The Act, which was due to come into force in April 2011, will now be delayed until three months after the final version of the guidance has been published. The draft guidance was published in September 2010 and was subject to a two-month consultation. The final version of the guidance was expected to have been published in January 2011, but remains under review.

UPDATE::>>>

The Coalition Government announced that it will publish new guidelines on Bribery Act compliance. The MOJ has said that the new law will be examined under the Government's Growth Review, a process designed to identify and remove perceived obstacles to investment and economic growth and "to help commercial organisations put practical procedures in place that help to prevent bribery".

Transparency International has published some helpful guidance on how the Bribery Act 2010 applies to supply chains. The guidance highlights that many companies have, or are part of, supply chains in countries where there is a high risk of bribery occurring. The guidance reminds organisations that the Ministry of Justice's draft guidance on "adequate procedures" includes a key principle that organisations must have due diligence policies and procedures covering all the parties to a business relationship, including the organisations' supply chains. The guidance suggests practical steps that organisations can take to establish adequate procedures. In particular, the guidance includes a 20-point checklist for organisations to follow when reviewing their procedures and some illustrative scenarios and anti-bribery policies for no-bribes, facilitation payments and hospitality payments. The latter two points are of particular concern to businesses. The guidance is likely to be a useful complement to the MoJ guidance.
